This “Diaper Insecurity Dashboard” produced by the Urban Institute in partnership with the National Diaper Bank speaks volumes. The general public still does not understand how widespread and urgent the issue of diaper need is.
In 2026, I call on readers to reach out to their local legislators, urging them to establish more effective policies and to strengthen support systems for those suffering from diaper insecurity. Additionally, please collect diapers to support your local diaper bank.
The key to ending diaper need involves both system change and a shift in cultural mindset. Together we can make a difference!
