The latest National Diaper Bank Network Diaper Check study confirms what we already know: diaper insecurity is a serious, widespread problem affecting nearly 1 in 2 U.S. households with young children.
This crisis vastly affects working families, as the connection to child care is especially important:
Households experiencing diaper insecurity were 21 times more likely to miss work because they lacked the diapers required for child care.
Most child care providers require families to supply their own diapers, so when families run out, children can’t attend, and parents can’t go to work or school.
Families facing diaper insecurity were significantly more likely to report losing child care in the past year.
This is why our drives matter. We can be part of the solution. Every diaper collected helps a family stay stable, stay employed, and stay afloat. The need is real, and it’s here in our own community.
