I came across a startling fact while following the devastation in Los Angeles: fourteen of the schools that burned to the ground in Pacific Palisades were Title 1 schools. There’s a very high percentage of socio-economically disadvantaged families in the area affected by the fires. And one of the key items being requested is baby diapers.
Fortunately, there’s an organization with a clear-cut plan to help families with babies who are displaced and who took action immediately: Baby2Baby.
Diapers for a Difference is a week into a donation drive in partnership with Baby2Baby. In speaking with Baby2Baby’s Manager of Volunteer & Community Engagement, I’ve learned a lot about their distribution channels and model for helping to end diaper need.
I’m thrilled to see the outpouring of help for these families who were struggling before the fires and are now faced with a deepened sense of insecurity and stress.
