The Fight to End Diaper Need Continues at the Highest Level—in Washington, D.C.

Posted on September 20, 2025September 20, 2025 by avajcoco

This week, U.S. Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) introduced House Resolution 736, recognizing the importance of diapers to infant health and family well-being while designating the week of September 15-21, 2025, as “National Diaper Need Awareness Week.” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is co-sponsoring this important resolution.

The resolution addresses the widespread but often overlooked public health issue that I’ve been raising awareness of since 2022: diaper need, or diaper insecurity, which is the inability to afford enough diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy.

According to the NDBN Diaper Check 2024, diaper need continues to affect nearly one in two U.S. families with young children.
